The conversion math

Annual = Hourly × Hours/week × Weeks/year
Hourly = Annual ÷ (Hours/week × Weeks/year)  ·  standard year: 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours
Worked example

$25/hour at 40 hrs/week, 52 weeks:

25 × 2,080 = $52,000/yr = $1,000/week = $2,000 biweekly = $4,333/month

Worked example — annual salary to hourly, with unpaid leave

A salaried role pays $75,000/year. The employee takes 2 weeks unpaid leave, so only 50 weeks are actually paid, at 40 hours/week: total paid hours = 50 × 40 = 2,000 hours.

Hourly equivalent = 75,000 ÷ 2,000 = $37.50/hour — higher than the 52-week figure of $36.06, since the same $75,000 is now spread over fewer actual working weeks.

These are gross figures — see what survives taxes with the take-home pay calculator. When comparing a salaried offer to hourly work, divide the salary by your actual expected hours (salaried roles are usually overtime-exempt), and price the benefits: employer health premiums, 401(k) match, and PTO routinely add 20–30% of salary in value. Hourly with overtime eligibility can beat a higher salary — check the overtime calculator.
